This month we celebrate the seven year anniversary of the founding of Educative Tech, now YouMultiply.
Firstly, we want to give all glory to our Lord for sustaining and blessing us through all these years of growth: from three friends working in a coffee shop to a company incorporated in the US with a passionate and gifted, globally distributed team.
Back in 2019, I was working full time at a Bible college, and I had just helped them implement Canvas LMS. This was, and still is, the world leading system, used by most of the world's top universities, but an enterprise implementation was pricey and placed real pressure on their finances. However, the leadership felt strongly that they wanted the best user experience for their students.
Since Canvas is open source and my co-founders and I have an IT background, we thought: “What prevents us from setting up a Canvas LMS instance? This way institutions like this could get the same quality but at a more affordable price, with personalized support services built especially for Christian education.”
Hosting Canvas turned out to be significantly more challenging than we had thought. However, after investing much of our own time and money, we managed not only to host production quality systems but also to begin building features made possible only in our own solution.
As clients joined us, it was not long before we began hearing a repeated refrain: “We need more than just an LMS. Can't you also provide a Student Information System (SIS)? This is what we also desperately need.”
